Absent Sept. 26, 2012

I didn't come to class today due to personal reasons, although I have successfully read the whole novel of "Mariquita" and I personally believe it was a sad time during her experience. I have two other books I am reading now and hopefully I can get to share more about them later on. For now, my goal is to continue reading for as long as I can. I went to the Public Library today in Agana and as I entered, I noticed there were more children there than there were adults. Children as young as infants who were with the families reading books and I thought it was a nice thing to see. I am looking forward to heading back and when I do, I know that I will rent a book for me to read. See you guys Monday.

September 26,2012 Finished

In class yesterday we finished the book Mariquita. I am really pissed and angry with the Japanese. In chapter eight, nine, ten and eleven these were the chapters where everything started happening the killing and stuff. I am really sad for Mariquita because she was killed and she did not care about her kids because she did not want to disgrace her family and husband. I really honor Mariquita for what she did for others and herself. If only the U.S was there a day early then Mariquita would have been safe and return to her kids and family. I really do not know what is the next book that I am going to be reading I have till the end of this weekend to decide. I really like Mrs. Quichocho's reading class because it makes me want to keep reading and reading now. Till next class session se you all Monday. Oh and by the way can you grab the Fireproof book for Vince. Thank you Mrs. Quichocho.

todays class session 09-26-12

Todays class session was same as usual. It was Great ! As usual, we had to do "Silent Reading." Last blog, I mentioned, "Eddie being weird to get his friend caught when the Japanese didn't even know Eddie's wasn't alone." But I guess it's a family thing to reveal themselves to their enemy. At least, that's how I see it. I thought Mariquita's family would be smart enough to stay in the cave, where there were no danger around, but I was wrong. They actually had the courage to go back to the city of what is now a desaster. Although it was kinda a mistake for them to show themselves and get captured by the Japanese men as well, it wasn't that bad for their family at all. Except for Mariquita's father. He had it bad. Well, till next blog, I'll continue this wonderful, interesting story.

Another day of silent reading. 09-24-12

As we did our "Silent Reading" in class, I was still enjoying the fact that Mariquita's life, in the beginning, was really great. Until the Japanese Military men invaded Guam. It's shocking how no one at all knew what was going on. Not even Mariquita herself. Although it was kinda smart for Mariquita's husband, Eddie, to escape from their ship, it was kinda weird for him to give away his partner when he got captured from the Japanese men. I know I'm pretty much telling the story, but that's what make it intersting for you. Well, I hope to finish this book next class session.

September 24, 2012 Continuation

Today in class Mrs. Quichocho made us read for an hour. And in that hour i managed to read three chapters. I am suppose to be reading at least forty-five minutes a day but it is hard for me not to finish the good parts so I read for like an hour each day. Well by the way Mariquita  in chapter six, seven and eight it just talks about Mariquita and Eddie getting married and having a kids and then when she gave birth to her second child the Japanese were invading the Island. These chapters are really getting interesting to the point where i really do not want to put the book down. See you all in class today.

"Dear Dad"

Today I forgot to bring my novel  "Mariquita" to class, but good thing I brought an extra book to read by Ky-mani Marley, son of The Legendary Rastafarian Reggae singer, Bob Marley, and his book was called "Dear Dad". Its pretty interesting at first, after reading almost 3 chapters I got to know about Ky-mani's life as a child and where he grew up in Jamaica. I'm supposed to continue my reading on the first novel, so when I finish that I willl more of Ky-mani's story. In the beginning he describes his poor life and explains how rich he was as a child, and when he meant, he meant it as Rich with "Love". I am glad to have this book of my own because I can share his story later on to my friends and family, or whoever so choses to share it with me. The book was given to me by my mother who works at a Thrift Store and mostly everything that I have from her was brought to me from her work. Well I'll Blog more later so until next time guys!

Wed. Sept. 19, 2012

Continuation on the book,"Mariquita" was really great ! I really like how it started talking about Agana. Although I am now residing at Latte Height, Mangilao, I originated from Agana. So far, I'm liking how the beginning is going. Like most Chammoro People, they'll accept just about anyone who shows respect, no matter what nationality. I like how Mariquita is now married to a Military guy, but at the same time, it is kinda hard to trust them. Well, I can't wait to see what has yet to come.

Wednesday Blog

We went over another reading session with the class and I find the novel a lot interesting than the last in many different ways. What the character says in the story about many of her friends along with her family gave me a visualization of how life was before in the past on Guam. I am looking forward to reading more of the novel and therefore am going to take my time doing so. I hope my classmates share the same thoughts and enjoy as much as I am with this story. Until next time guys.

September 19, 2012

In yesterdays class session we continued reading the book "Mariquita". This book is really an interesting book because as you keep reading it just keeps pulling you in to it and makes you wanna keep reading. The thing that was crazy is Mariqutia wanted nothing to do with Eddie until that day when Eddie stood up to the Marines. Then they started hanging out and it turned in to romance, Then Eddie started hanging around Mariquita family and they got engaged. To me I think that Mariquita was trying to play hard to get. I also think that she wanted Eddie to show that he can take care of her. That was the Highlight of my day. Till next week see you all and have a good weekend.

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Tonight in Reading workshop we continued to read on the based on true story "Mariquita". I continue to love this story. So far Mariquita get's married to Eddie and has a baby boy who was also born on my birthday September. I was blown away on that part. The more I read into the story I feel like I want to cry. I don't even know why the I haven't gone to the part were the war starts. I love their story line on their love life and how often they spend so much time with each other. I can relate to the love part. I too spend a lot of time with my honey and have gone my own way with out my girlfriends but still keep in touch. Still,I can not wait to finish this book. Until next blogg and good reads,Good night and see you all next week.

Monday, Sept. 17, 2012

Last class session was great ! We read this book called, "Mariquita." It was really interesting. Especially how it's mainly about our island of Guam. It's pretty wonderful knowing how her life is going so far, but we have yet to find out what lies ahead. I can't believe that the buildings they've had back then are still standing till this very day. As we read, I pictured Guam being way much more Beautiful than it is today. I can't wait till we actually finish this book !
Last night in Reading Workshop, we started reading the book we all have been waiting to read "Mariquita"by.Chris Perez Howard. This book is so surreal that it feels like I was in this story too. I can relate to being in Hagatna on a hot day and just walking around. The church bell ringing and watching the sun set at the beach. I have read this book back in middle school and I love this book. The sad part is I just could not remember the name of this book. But now I am more than happy to have my own copy from Mrs.Q even though it's just xerox copied. I am still glad I have a copy to share with my baby sister. Ever since we talked about bringing this book into class I bragged about it at home and told my mother and sister about this story. I can not wait to finish this book. So excited. Well until next blogg and good reads, have a wonderful day.

Sept. 17, 2012

Today in class for all who were there and to those reading, we read a Novel called "Mariquita". It was nice to know more about Guam's History especially from someone who has a past about their family and a story to tell about it. The character in the story shares about her friends, family, and many other aspects of her life, but this is only in the first two chapters of the book. I am going to read the whole book before we meet back on Wednesday, so until then my Blog here would have to be continued. See you guys Wednesday!

September 17, 2012

In today's class session we finally read the Mariquita book so far I like it because it is our history that we are reading about. Back then the villages are really nice especially Agana also know as Hagatna. And to know that there were a lot of local relics that are still standing now that it is the twenty first century. I really cannot wait to finish the book because at least I know a little of our history and our chamorro history. The book is kind of funny. So far this book is really interesting. The part that I cannot get out of my head is the part where she and the friend gets tired of paddling, And the reason why is because there was one day that i wanted to go with my Uncle Tom, my two cousins, and dad fishing on the boat, we went to a little bit to coco's island and the boat died. My uncle did not have any paddles so we had to swim back to Merizo pier and by the time we reached may 25 feet I got a cramp in my leg, so my dad and uncle told me to get in to the boat and they will pull me in. Then by then my Dad and one of my cousins get a cramp so they get in, The only one that was pulling the boat was my uncle and my cousin but then my cousin got a cramp, so he got in the boat so the only on pulling the boat was my Uncle. So he said that they are going to try and spearfish for a while so everyone but I gets back in the water. Then when they came up my uncle tried to start the boat and it did. The fact is that we had the phones in the dry box. we could of called someone to help us. yeah so that is why I cannot get that image out of my head. Till next class session.

September 12,2012

Last night was a good class because we talked about the Guam Literacy. In specifics the war here on Guam and some Legends. Mrs. Quichocho even showed the class the logic of why we got invaded because we are the pit stops for both United states and the Pacific Asia. The book that i am reading is really good because as I keep reading I just cannot put the book down. I think that I only have like six or five chapters left. I really do not know what I am going to read next. Oh and the book Marakita sounds really good just by Mrs. Quichocho describing it. Happy Reading till tomorrow. see you all in class.

Sept. 12, 2012

As I read this book, I tend to have that strong interest on what it possesses. Reading really kills a lot of time, and not only that, but it also fills you up with a lot of knowledge. I love how the family stick together through the hard times they have ahead of them. Usually in some families, it's Every man for himself. Once I finish this book, I hope to read some other as interesting as the books I've already read. Although reading wasn't a subject I liked, I'll say I love it now. Like usual, I hope to finish this book with a smile.

Biba Guam:)

Last night in Reading Workshop we did not do our silent reading. Even though we did not read it was still a learning process for us. We talked about the history of our beautiful island Guam. It was very exciting how we all had kinds of stories well more like our own histories with our own families. I am glad we shared some of our stories from our past. It is always a learning experience in Mrs.Q's class. I can not wait to read one of Guam's best novels Marikita. I think that's how you spell it. We also learned how important our island is to the U.S and Asia. I did not even know this information. I wish my teachers back in high school could of been more informal.Well until next blogg and good reads. I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.

Sept. 12, 2012

Today in class we discussed about Guam History, which was pretty interesting for us because we did it most of the whole period and didn't read like we normally do, but it's Literature and it's still a part of learning so I say that it was good day in class for our reading students. What I liked most about today is how we got to learn more about "Our History", what happened before and how the United States affects Guam today. I think that the way things are now with us and the United States could be better for the people. It is up to us to make a difference and I have a great feeling of me participating and taking the next step into the Real World. So I hope we talk more about this next week and read about it as well. See you guys next week!

Sept. 10, 2012

In class, we read our books for mostly the whole class period. I like it because I got to read a couple verses in The Bible. So far I read The Bible at home when I get the chance because it helps me learn more about it and also gives me the strength to do what I need to throughout my day. I am thankful for everyday that is given to us and every night I have to pray to remind myself that God is Good and only He can make things Good. Well, that's about it for now. I'll see you guys next week.

So Far from the bamboo grove. 09/10/12

This is a story about a girls' survival of World War II. It is in fact an intersting novel. Once I started reading the first couple pages, I've noticed that their family were in a safe area, away from where the war has been going on. They felt as if though they were Japanese, the Japanese military men won't bother them. But that wasn't the outcome at all. Once I found out what the Koreans and Japanese military men were doing, I was than disgusted. Although I'm not quite done reading the novel, I can't wait to actually read what lies ahead. Whoever else reads this novel, I hope you enjoy it like I am myself.

ALL TOGETHER DEAD

This book is all about vampires and some supernatural things like shapeshifter's, witches, and other thing that deals with vampires. This book is all about the the real world with humans and the supernatural world. As I keep reading it gets more and more interesting. Oh and by the way class is awesome because we get to read for the whole class session, well not really the whole class session we are allowed a ten minute break. Mrs. Q is the only Teacher that I know that lets her class read. She is the only on that motivates students to read and continue to read.

Last night in Reading Workshop we had another silent reading session. I continued to read my NEW book "The last Echo" by. Kimberly Derting. So far into my reading Violet ended up joining a special team that is connected with the FBI. With in this team, the people she works with have special abilities that not many people know what they can do.Mind you Violet is still in high school living a double life. Not even her close friends know what she can do.So far a strange man who is obsessed with a barista girl who he kidnaps. I love this book because it gives detail's in the killers mind. It get's more interesting I really can't put this book down. I love how I am improving my reading slowly but surly. If I knew reading could be this much excitement I would have never given away my books. So now I am starting all over again. Since I started this class I am slowly learning what kind of a reader I am. I can't wait to finish this book... Well until next blogg and good read's have a wonderful day.

Sunday, September 9, 2012

I finally finished My book "Desires of the Dead". I love this book it is so twisted and some what like the TV show called "Ghost Whisper". But this story takes place in Seattle and it all start's with a High school girl named Violet. She can sense echo's (dead being's soul's begging to be found). I am starting on the second book "The last Echo". Oh I can not wait to finish my collection and start a new one. I wasn't so lucky getting a picture of how my book looks like but in this video clip of the book I just finished it show's it at the end. Well I have to get going with the second book. Until next blogg and good reads.. Goodnight...

September 5, 2012

The book that I am reading really catches my interest because I am a big fan of VAMPIRES and WEREWOLF'S and all the other SUPERNATURAL THING. The book is called ALL TOGETHER DEAD. When I first saw this book I was like super excited too read it because of my interest in the supernatural wold. As read it I envision myself there in the story, also I am asking myself what would that be like? What is the plot of the seen? What do the characters look like? and all sort of questions. Its like a movie that is playing in my head. I am also trying to comprehend what the story is about and where it takes place and just what is the writer is trying to get to. I think that this will be the second book that I am going to finish. So if any of you know of any supernatural book please let me know because this is what I am in too. So see you all Monday in class. Happy Reading and have a good weekend.

Sept. 05, 2012

Class today was really great. We had to do "Silent reading." As you can see up top, that is the book I enjoyed reading at that moment. The first twenty minutes we got to read silently, I was doing kinda good. The second time, we got thirty minutes. I was moving even faster than I had the first time. Well, I can't wait to finish this book as well. It's just as interesting as the first book we read in class.

Sept. 5, 2012 Blog

Last night we read most of the period. I thought it was awesome until I started falling asleep as I got deep into my reading. I hate when that happens. Honestly! Although after we took like a ten minute break and I felt more awake and had more than enough energy to continue my reading. As of now the book I am reading is the Holy Bible. It's pretty interesting for me because I never thought I'd one day pick up the Bible and start reading it. I take it a verse a day, that is what my mom told me to do. She pretty much read the Bible twice and I want to be just like her. Well until next week guys! See ya.

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

Today in Reading Workshop we did silent reading. I almost finished my book called "Desires Of the Dead". So far I read 33 chapters overall .But in class to total up I read 3 chapters. The main character Violet discovers her friends dead mother's body out in the snow. Were her and a few friends have a weekend out at her friends family cabin. I was so close to finishing my book. Wow. All along it was her friends father that had killed his wife because she was leaving him for another man who she had been with before and he's abusive. Her friend , Mike's father ended up killing himself because he knew that he did wrong and that he did not deserve to live. For he had killed the woman he loved. He was also an alcoholic. The story is so.... crazy I went and bought the second book. So for now I'm going to finish the rest of my book and start the next one.. So until next blogg and good reads,Good night....

Percy Jackson & Olympians The Lightning Thief

As I was reading the book the Percy Jackson & Olympians The Lightning Thief and I really do not like the Book because Its like all over the place and it is really confusing me because it jumps from here to there and it just does not make sense. I really liked the move because it was not that confusing. So now I really need to go and look for a new book because I am suppose to be reading a book and i need it for tomorrow. Is there any book that you guys all know of that is interesting. So see you all tomorrow.
