The Final Blog.

Well, it has certainly been an interesting semester this year. I am glad to have gained the knowledge needed to advance towards the next levels of education. With the help of Mrs Q. and many other names that I will not be mentioning, it has been a great privilege to have learned and accomplished so much. I hope to be a student of her's, maybe as a scholar or honors if by any chance in the future and I am looking forward to pursuing a career in teaching. I will continue my daily reading routine and maybe blog as well. So until next time, Happy Holidays!

Presentations post-poned

We didn't get to present because majority of the class didn't complete their projects. So Mrs. Q, gave us until Wednesday of this week to be prepared. I am excited to present my projects and hope that I get a passing grade for both. I am already done with my reflection, reaction, and my assessments so I guess I am pretty much set for conferencing. The class was also planning to do a pot-luck, so if it does happen, I will be bringing some kelaguen. The semester is already near ending and I really enjoyed learning much from this reading course. I will maintain my daily reading and hope that the other students will do the same as well. Mrs. Q. said that we will lose it if we do not read daily, so I don't on making that happen. Well, until later, I blog more then.

Workshop day :)

Today, had workshop day. I started on my storyboard and now have the whole thing set out. Thanks to our wonderful teacher, she gave me great examples on how my story board should turn out. I am very excited to getting this done, and am even more stoked to present both of my projects on Monday of next week. I hope I am not the only though, because I'd love to see my fellow classmates present their work. So until next week, I'll be blogging more about it then.

Final Day of Silent Reading..

Today was the final day of silent reading. I'm really going to miss it. No really, I am. Anyways, we are meeting up Wednesday, the 21st, and are going to work on our projects. Mrs. Q. said we can bring in our projects and that we can do it during our class time and maybe get some help from our fellow students. So I am going to bring in only one of the two projects, because the other one that I am not bringing in is already done, it just needs some finishing touches. I am very excited to finish all work. I need to boost my grades in order to Graduate this Semester. Well, I'll blog more later! See ya

Nov. 19, 2012

Well, the book, "Brothers of the heart" was a really good book to read. Although I didn't put much effort onto finishing this book as quick as possible, at least I did. It's a really interesting novel. It's wonderful how a cripple can become a strong, independent person. At one point, I was almost going to tear. As embarrassing as it seems, yeah, I almost did. He, the cripple, had a good life in the end. He got married, and also, he had a kid with the woman he was with. Well, I loved that book, just about the same as I loved all the novels I've finished. Continuing the book, "So far from the bamboo grove" is just about the same. It was very interesting at the time I was reading it for silent reading. I didn't finish it because we had to read the novel, "Mariquita" together, but now that I've continued it, I'm starting to enjoy it once more. Until next class, I hope too finish this book.

One more night of silent reading, I think....

Well, on this evening class went by a little too fast. We did silent reading after we went over the syllabus. I am trying to finish my fourth novel by Monday, then maybe get into my fifth before the ending of the semester. I am still working on my projects, poems, and also going to donate one more book as extra credit to my grade. I can't wait to present them and get my grade! I am stoked to pass and even more determined to make sure I do! So until Next week!

Nov. 7

About a week ago in class, we did some silent reading for about 40 mins. after going over some changes in the Syllabus. There were only two of us in class that attended that day, which was pretty unusual for this class especially because everyone usually comes to class. Any ways,  I have finally began to start working on my projects. I am so glad that I have. I got all the materials needed and now I have to do is put them all together and present them. Well, that is after some gluing and printing; and colouring; and other stuff that is required of course. So until the 14th of November, I will blog more about it then.

Almost done

Today in another wonderful of reading class, we did an hour of silent reading and I am almost done with one of my novels. I plan on reading another book from Dave Pelzer called "Help Yourself". The book was given to me by my mother that she got from her work in Harmon. I have many more books I look forward to reading after this novel and am even thinking of writing one. Maybe just a short story about fishing or other stuff that I do. For now, I am going to finish reading this novel during class today and start on the next novel. So until next week, I will blog more about the book then!

October, 29, 2012

Continuing the book got even more interesting. I kind of wish I had a good paying job as Shem does. Although, he was tricked onto a crooks job at first, he finally found a decent work place. In that place, there are more people like himself. He kinda felt comfortable at first, but when he found out the consequences of what will happen if they conversed with each other, he was then self-cautious. He didn't want to risk his job, and most of all, he didn't want to go to jail, or worse, prosecuted. This book is wonderful so far, and I can't wait to finish it, but until I do, it'll be one novel added onto the rest of the novels I've finished reading. Well, until next class session, I hope to read with you all once again.

Oct. 29, 2012

Last class session, I got through more pages than the time before. As I read in class, this book was getting more and more interesting. Although, I wasn't really getting into the book at first, I can honestly say, I am now. I can see a lot of improvement in my reading, but I really don't see myself passing this class. As I continued the book at home, I started to figure out who the second brother of the heart was referring to. In reality, he's not really a blood brother, but is well-respected to be one. I have half of the book left to read, so I hope I can finish it sometime, soon. Well, until next class session, I'll see you guys in class.

Read some, Lose some.

Today was a quick and easy day of reading. We read for an hour straight, I think, and did some talking. It was a good day for me. I am almost done with the Novel that I'm reading. After, I am going to read something about life, or nature. So until Monday folks!

Last week Wednesday

Last week Wednesday we had silent reading. it went well again I actually read a lot of pages with in an hour. That was my last class session because I am getting ready to leave next this coming week Saturday. I had a great time in reading work shop with the whole class. I will continue to read more and also continue to share books that I have read. I will try to finish my semester project and turn it in as soon as i am done Mrs. Quichocho. Till next time. I really am going to miss the session where I can read for an hour and also all of you my fellow classmates.

Oct. 22, 2012

In reading class, last session, I started this book, "Brothers of the Heart, by Joan W. Blos." So far, this book seems interesting and I'm still on chapter one. Why i say it's interesting ? Well, because it seems as though that was how it were back than. They were riding horses, farming, and migrating from one place to another. I haven't yet found out who the exact two brothers are. It's a little hard to know cause I'm still on the first half of this novel. Well, till next class, I hope to find out what lies ahead.

Failing

Today in class I have just found out that I am failing. I am not happy with my performance and am going to improve before the ending of the semester. Well, what had happened was we started off with silent reading for about 30 minutes. Next, Mrs. Q. gave the class a 15 minute break, so she took that time to have a conference with  me about my grades. I know now what needs to be done, so I am going to do my best. I really don't want to fail and repeat this class all over again. So until Wednesday, I will blog more about it then.

Oct. 17, 2012

Last class session, back to "Silent Reading." As I read this novel, as you can see up top, it seem as though this book was about gods. And what do you know, it pretty much was about gods, at least half. In this book, there is one man named, Kino. Kino is a very respectful man, who is in fact, half god. One day, he went diving, to try and find some pearls to sell for the condition of his son. His son got poisoned by a scorpions sting. As he went diving to find pearls, an amazing thing happened. He found the "Pearl of the world." I thought that the finding of that pearl would bring his family wealth, but instead, it brought evil among their family. It actually led from a poisoned son, to a murdered child. In the end, Kino threw the pearl back into the ocean, to where it belongs.

Happy Hour

Well, today was an awesome day of school, even if it was only about an hour or so. I came to class feeling excited about what we would be learning today. We did some catching up and started with timed reading and it was a good thing I brought of one my books. I was ready to read. The reading session went pretty well for me. As I was reading, my mind was like playing a movie in my head, and it was pretty crazy. I can't wait to get back next week and work other stuff, but for now, I'm just gonna keep on reading.

October 17, 2012

Yesterday in reading workshop we did silent reading. It was good because I managed to read quite a few pages. I am almost done with the book. Also Mrs. Quichocho help me more understand how to write a poem. I really want to stay and finish the semester but we are going to leave the island. So I have to try an finish my semester project and turn it in before I leave. I need to choose another book any suggestions. I will see you all next Monday. Have a great week end.

October 15, 2012

In class we had a really big agenda because their were a lot of things that need to be discussed. So first we read out our poem for those who finished early. Then we discussed the Semester Project and all the criteria that is need for each specific section. and the we had a choice to choose oral reading or work on our project for three silent reading sessions. It was surprising that the class all choose silent reading.       Next was conferencing and last was Extra credit. If we wanted we can bring in book that Mrs. Quichocho is requesting for and bring it in for points. Class is always fun when Mrs. Quichocho there to inspire her students to strive for successes.

October 08,2012

Yesterday in class instead of Silent Reading Mrs. Quichocho show us different types of poem's. We will not be having classes tomorrow so we kind of have a free period but actually I have to attend the College access Program thing for tutoring and stuff. I think that i will have a problem with the poem but I think that I will be able to get it done. This will be the first poem that I ever wrote. I will finish the book Of Mice and Men and start on a new book. Till next class session see you all next week.

10-08-12

Last class session was really great. We were supposed to do silent reading, but as we overviewed our syllabus, instead we learned about poetry. It was actually more intersting than I figured it would be. We learned about 15 different types of poems. I was confused at first, but when Mrs. Quichocho started explaining them to us, I understood the concept of all of them. Not to mention, we have an assignment to do, and it is, in fact, a poem. I can't wait to actually see how it'll turn out to be.

Poetry, Oct. 08

Last night we, as a class, discussed our next meeting dates and did some poetry. First, we thought we were going to be having another session of silent reading, but Mrs. Q. made some changes with our agenda so we worked on Poetry instead. Then, we did a reading spill about reading and wrote it on a piece of paper. I enjoyed that very much. Finally, after almost 30 mins. we had to take home our assignments and choose a type of poem that is going to be used in our Reflection Paper, which is due next Monday. I am pretty stoked about this poetry in a reflection paper. I've never done one like this. Or have I? (Laughter) Well, until Monday, I'll Blog more about then.

Class 10-03-12

This book is far more interesting than I once thought it was. And that was of course in the beginning. Although, at some point, I thought "The Wave" was a good thing in this book, as I got further into it, I've noticed that it was turning out to be some sort of gang-related group. Mr. Ross, in this novel, is the teacher of a History class. He introduced this "Wave" to his students who were in his class, and told them it was an experiment he came up with. It was actually a game. As soon as the kids in his class got more and more interested in this so called "Wave," they started sharing, and recruiting some students outside of Mr. Ross's class. At this point, it became more of a join or we'll make you join type of group. Until next blog, I hope to finish this book.

October 04,2012

Yesterday in class we had silent read for an hour. Within that hour I managed to read the last few chapters my book "All Together Dead". It was a good book now I have to look for the next novel that follow the book all together dead. Now I am going to finish the rest of the book this weekend "Of Mice and Men. I cannot wait to finish this book and start a new one. So far this is the first time in my life, Reading 4 Novels. I really like this reading class because it is really encouraging me too read more and more each day. After Of Mice and Men I am going to read "blood Suckers By: Ottto Penzler, which is another series of novels. Till next class session, see you all next week Monday.

Oct. 3, 2012 ABSENT

Today I missed another session of class. I'll make this short and simple. As soon as I got to school, I was well on my way to class when suddenly, my stomach started acting up. I soon began to realize that if I walked in that class, it would be the wrong thing to do for me at that time. I wasn't thinking at all, so I just turned and walked my way down the stairs. Before I could reach the library, the pain just vanished as if nothing ever happened. I wanted to go back, but since I would've already been considered absent, I decided to head in to the library instead. So I read for about 30 minutes until my stomach started acting up again. It was enough reading for me, so I packed my things and headed straight for home. I felt good that I took time from class to read when I was supposed to be in class reading where it would count as my grade, but I couldn't trust the way my stomach was acting. So until next time folks.

Oct. 1, 2012

In class we went through another session of silent reading. This time I felt more tired than ever. I couldn't help it. I'd read some, then slowly just drowse off into what felt like a deep sleep. I read as much as I could stay awake. For some reason I just felt really tired and weak. I guess its because of the way the weather has been lately. Well, it ain't going to stop me from reading, sun or no sun, I'm still going to read no matter what. See you guys next week.

Oct. 1,2012

After completing the book, "Mariquita," I was shocked when I read about Mariquita's disappearance. I thought it was going to be the other way around. Precisely, I thought Eddie was the one who was going to die, but I was wrong. Now I understand why it was a tragedy of Guam. A helpful, loving mother, who did everything to make sure the other people around her were safe, died in a mysterious way that no one knows about up until this very day.Well, now I started this book, titled as, "The Wave." This book seems just about as interesting as the others I've finished already were. I love how so far, it's still a book, which consist of a long time ago war. Although this book seems a little bit more intense, I can't wait to see what lies ahead. Well, until next class, have a wonderful day everyone.

October 01, 2012

In yesterdays class we had to choose a new book to read in class, the book that i choose was the Of Mice and Men, I also choose another book but I forgot the name of it, but it deals with vampires again.or I think that the name of the other book is Blood sucker. Also the class read for an hour again. I am really happy with my progression because I am reading at least two chapters to three. I have not finished my book All together dead because I have been going through a lot of things with my mom. So hopefully I can finish it at least by the end of this week. But I can not wait to read the new book I am really excited to read the new book that I choose. Till next class session, see you all tomorrow. Have a great day and.

Absent Sept. 26, 2012

I didn't come to class today due to personal reasons, although I have successfully read the whole novel of "Mariquita" and I personally believe it was a sad time during her experience. I have two other books I am reading now and hopefully I can get to share more about them later on. For now, my goal is to continue reading for as long as I can. I went to the Public Library today in Agana and as I entered, I noticed there were more children there than there were adults. Children as young as infants who were with the families reading books and I thought it was a nice thing to see. I am looking forward to heading back and when I do, I know that I will rent a book for me to read. See you guys Monday.

September 26,2012 Finished

In class yesterday we finished the book Mariquita. I am really pissed and angry with the Japanese. In chapter eight, nine, ten and eleven these were the chapters where everything started happening the killing and stuff. I am really sad for Mariquita because she was killed and she did not care about her kids because she did not want to disgrace her family and husband. I really honor Mariquita for what she did for others and herself. If only the U.S was there a day early then Mariquita would have been safe and return to her kids and family. I really do not know what is the next book that I am going to be reading I have till the end of this weekend to decide. I really like Mrs. Quichocho's reading class because it makes me want to keep reading and reading now. Till next class session se you all Monday. Oh and by the way can you grab the Fireproof book for Vince. Thank you Mrs. Quichocho.

todays class session 09-26-12

Todays class session was same as usual. It was Great ! As usual, we had to do "Silent Reading." Last blog, I mentioned, "Eddie being weird to get his friend caught when the Japanese didn't even know Eddie's wasn't alone." But I guess it's a family thing to reveal themselves to their enemy. At least, that's how I see it. I thought Mariquita's family would be smart enough to stay in the cave, where there were no danger around, but I was wrong. They actually had the courage to go back to the city of what is now a desaster. Although it was kinda a mistake for them to show themselves and get captured by the Japanese men as well, it wasn't that bad for their family at all. Except for Mariquita's father. He had it bad. Well, till next blog, I'll continue this wonderful, interesting story.

Another day of silent reading. 09-24-12

As we did our "Silent Reading" in class, I was still enjoying the fact that Mariquita's life, in the beginning, was really great. Until the Japanese Military men invaded Guam. It's shocking how no one at all knew what was going on. Not even Mariquita herself. Although it was kinda smart for Mariquita's husband, Eddie, to escape from their ship, it was kinda weird for him to give away his partner when he got captured from the Japanese men. I know I'm pretty much telling the story, but that's what make it intersting for you. Well, I hope to finish this book next class session.

September 24, 2012 Continuation

Today in class Mrs. Quichocho made us read for an hour. And in that hour i managed to read three chapters. I am suppose to be reading at least forty-five minutes a day but it is hard for me not to finish the good parts so I read for like an hour each day. Well by the way Mariquita  in chapter six, seven and eight it just talks about Mariquita and Eddie getting married and having a kids and then when she gave birth to her second child the Japanese were invading the Island. These chapters are really getting interesting to the point where i really do not want to put the book down. See you all in class today.

"Dear Dad"

Today I forgot to bring my novel  "Mariquita" to class, but good thing I brought an extra book to read by Ky-mani Marley, son of The Legendary Rastafarian Reggae singer, Bob Marley, and his book was called "Dear Dad". Its pretty interesting at first, after reading almost 3 chapters I got to know about Ky-mani's life as a child and where he grew up in Jamaica. I'm supposed to continue my reading on the first novel, so when I finish that I willl more of Ky-mani's story. In the beginning he describes his poor life and explains how rich he was as a child, and when he meant, he meant it as Rich with "Love". I am glad to have this book of my own because I can share his story later on to my friends and family, or whoever so choses to share it with me. The book was given to me by my mother who works at a Thrift Store and mostly everything that I have from her was brought to me from her work. Well I'll Blog more later so until next time guys!

Monday, September 24, 2012

Wed. Sept. 19, 2012

Continuation on the book,"Mariquita" was really great ! I really like how it started talking about Agana. Although I am now residing at Latte Height, Mangilao, I originated from Agana. So far, I'm liking how the beginning is going. Like most Chammoro People, they'll accept just about anyone who shows respect, no matter what nationality. I like how Mariquita is now married to a Military guy, but at the same time, it is kinda hard to trust them. Well, I can't wait to see what has yet to come.

Wednesday Blog

We went over another reading session with the class and I find the novel a lot interesting than the last in many different ways. What the character says in the story about many of her friends along with her family gave me a visualization of how life was before in the past on Guam. I am looking forward to reading more of the novel and therefore am going to take my time doing so. I hope my classmates share the same thoughts and enjoy as much as I am with this story. Until next time guys.

September 19, 2012

In yesterdays class session we continued reading the book "Mariquita". This book is really an interesting book because as you keep reading it just keeps pulling you in to it and makes you wanna keep reading. The thing that was crazy is Mariqutia wanted nothing to do with Eddie until that day when Eddie stood up to the Marines. Then they started hanging out and it turned in to romance, Then Eddie started hanging around Mariquita family and they got engaged. To me I think that Mariquita was trying to play hard to get. I also think that she wanted Eddie to show that he can take care of her. That was the Highlight of my day. Till next week see you all and have a good weekend.

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Tonight in Reading workshop we continued to read on the based on true story "Mariquita". I continue to love this story. So far Mariquita get's married to Eddie and has a baby boy who was also born on my birthday September. I was blown away on that part. The more I read into the story I feel like I want to cry. I don't even know why the I haven't gone to the part were the war starts. I love their story line on their love life and how often they spend so much time with each other. I can relate to the love part. I too spend a lot of time with my honey and have gone my own way with out my girlfriends but still keep in touch. Still,I can not wait to finish this book. Until next blogg and good reads,Good night and see you all next week.

Last Class Session we read this book called Mariquita it was really interesting because were reading about our island of guam, picturing & as well seeing some pictures in the book guam back then looks beautiful clean & also knowing that some of the buildings and street names are still around today on the island i love this book i could read it over again. i cant wait to read more of it.

Monday, Sept. 17, 2012

Last class session was great ! We read this book called, "Mariquita." It was really interesting. Especially how it's mainly about our island of Guam. It's pretty wonderful knowing how her life is going so far, but we have yet to find out what lies ahead. I can't believe that the buildings they've had back then are still standing till this very day. As we read, I pictured Guam being way much more Beautiful than it is today. I can't wait till we actually finish this book !
Last night in Reading Workshop, we started reading the book we all have been waiting to read "Mariquita"by.Chris Perez Howard. This book is so surreal that it feels like I was in this story too. I can relate to being in Hagatna on a hot day and just walking around. The church bell ringing and watching the sun set at the beach. I have read this book back in middle school and I love this book. The sad part is I just could not remember the name of this book. But now I am more than happy to have my own copy from Mrs.Q even though it's just xerox copied. I am still glad I have a copy to share with my baby sister. Ever since we talked about bringing this book into class I bragged about it at home and told my mother and sister about this story. I can not wait to finish this book. So excited. Well until next blogg and good reads, have a wonderful day.

Sept. 17, 2012

Today in class for all who were there and to those reading, we read a Novel called "Mariquita". It was nice to know more about Guam's History especially from someone who has a past about their family and a story to tell about it. The character in the story shares about her friends, family, and many other aspects of her life, but this is only in the first two chapters of the book. I am going to read the whole book before we meet back on Wednesday, so until then my Blog here would have to be continued. See you guys Wednesday!

September 17, 2012

In today's class session we finally read the Mariquita book so far I like it because it is our history that we are reading about. Back then the villages are really nice especially Agana also know as Hagatna. And to know that there were a lot of local relics that are still standing now that it is the twenty first century. I really cannot wait to finish the book because at least I know a little of our history and our chamorro history. The book is kind of funny. So far this book is really interesting. The part that I cannot get out of my head is the part where she and the friend gets tired of paddling, And the reason why is because there was one day that i wanted to go with my Uncle Tom, my two cousins, and dad fishing on the boat, we went to a little bit to coco's island and the boat died. My uncle did not have any paddles so we had to swim back to Merizo pier and by the time we reached may 25 feet I got a cramp in my leg, so my dad and uncle told me to get in to the boat and they will pull me in. Then by then my Dad and one of my cousins get a cramp so they get in, The only one that was pulling the boat was my uncle and my cousin but then my cousin got a cramp, so he got in the boat so the only on pulling the boat was my Uncle. So he said that they are going to try and spearfish for a while so everyone but I gets back in the water. Then when they came up my uncle tried to start the boat and it did. The fact is that we had the phones in the dry box. we could of called someone to help us. yeah so that is why I cannot get that image out of my head. Till next class session.

September 12,2012

Last night was a good class because we talked about the Guam Literacy. In specifics the war here on Guam and some Legends. Mrs. Quichocho even showed the class the logic of why we got invaded because we are the pit stops for both United states and the Pacific Asia. The book that i am reading is really good because as I keep reading I just cannot put the book down. I think that I only have like six or five chapters left. I really do not know what I am going to read next. Oh and the book Marakita sounds really good just by Mrs. Quichocho describing it. Happy Reading till tomorrow. see you all in class.

Sept. 12, 2012

As I read this book, I tend to have that strong interest on what it possesses. Reading really kills a lot of time, and not only that, but it also fills you up with a lot of knowledge. I love how the family stick together through the hard times they have ahead of them. Usually in some families, it's Every man for himself. Once I finish this book, I hope to read some other as interesting as the books I've already read. Although reading wasn't a subject I liked, I'll say I love it now. Like usual, I hope to finish this book with a smile.
